Yeah, but they don't leave it around like that. One thing we seem to have not mentioned: as tinkers need materials to work, they're typically the most vulnerable class of parahuman until they get really set up. This isn't really true of you as much as others, but people will still expect it of you just because that's how it normally goes. So leaving a piece of tinkertech just laying around is basically announcing to the gangs that there's probably a new Tinker somewhere in the city just waiting to be pressganged into service. This will not end well for them, given your personality in the madness place, but it's a situation I think we'd rather avoid if possible.
